Ceramic Coating
Ceramic Coating Aftercare Guide
- Queenstown
Your NXTZEN ceramic coating is built to make the vehicle easier to wash and better protected from Queenstown UV, winter road grime, rain, and everyday contamination. There is not much you need to do, but here are the basics.
The First Week
I keep your vehicle for 24 hours so the coating locks in properly. After you pick it up, just avoid washing it for 7 days while it finishes curing. You can drive it normally - rain, gravel, commuting, all fine.
- - No washing for 7 days. Let the coating bond and cure undisturbed.
- - Bird droppings. During cure week, gently wipe them off with a damp microfibre cloth when you notice them.
- - Everything else is fine. Drive it, park it outside, take it on gravel. The coating is already bonded.
Washing
Once cured, washing is actually enjoyable. Dirt releases more easily, water beads up, and the vehicle stays cleaner between washes. Here's what to know.
- - Hand wash with a decent car shampoo. Bucket, clean mitt, rinse. The coating should be maintained with pH-safe cleaners, and the clean mitt matters more than buying a shelf full of special products.
- - Touchless is a backup, not the ideal routine. No brushes is good, but many touchless washes rely on stronger acid or alkaline presoaks. Use one occasionally if needed; gentle hand washing is better for regular care.
- - Avoid harsh chemicals and brush washes. Skip strong acids, strong alkalis, caustic cleaners, heavy degreasers and spinning brushes. They are unnecessary on a coated car and can reduce the coating's water behaviour.
Ongoing Maintenance
A proper maintenance wash and coating check every few months keeps the surface behaving the way it should. The ceramic makes it faster than before too - dirt and contaminants don't bond like they used to.
I'll check in around the 3-month mark. Or call anytime if something does not look right.
